ATTENTION HORSEMEN

 Dear Horsemen,
The Maryland Jockey Club welcomes you to Maryland racing. It is our desire to ensure that your racing experiences in Maryland are pleasant and memorable ones.


IN LIGHT OF THE RECENT EQUINE HERPES OUTBREAKS, THE FOLLOWING WILL BE REQUIRED IMMEDIATELY FOR ALL HORSES STABLED AND/ OR RACING IN MARYLAND.

1. All horses and ponies seeking entrance to Maryland Jockey Club facilities shall be accompanied by and listed on a CERTIFICATE OF VETERINARY INSPECTION (CVI) which has been signed and dated within seventy-two (72) hours of arrival by a licensed veterinarian.

2. All horses and ponies entering our stable areas shall be vaccinated against Equine Herpes Virus Type 1 (EHV-1) by a licensed veterinarian within a minimum of seven (7) days and a maximum of ninety (90) days prior to entry into our stable area.  The CERTIFICATE OF VETERINARY INSPECTION (CVI) shall indicate the date of the vaccination and the specific vaccine product used to vaccinate each horse.

3. Horses and ponies already stabled on the MJC grounds should be vaccinated for Equine Herpes Virus every sixty (60) to ninety (90) days.  Where appropriate, modified live EHV vaccines should be used.
