LAUREL, MD. 12-11-09---Trainer Scott Lake won two races at Laurel Park on Friday afternoon to increase his lead over Dale Capuano in the training standings for the fall meeting. With five days remaining in the stand, Lake has 23 victories, three more than Capuano.
Capuano tied Lake for the top spot Wednesday afternoon, but Lake has scored three times since, including victories with Saint Omega and Tale of the Fox in today’s seventh and eighth races respectively.
Since 2006, the Lake barn has captured 11 of the 15 meets conducted at Laurel and Pimlico Race Course. Overall, the 44-year-old conditioner has 17 training titles at the major Maryland tracks this decade.
For the year, Lake has 87 victories in Maryland. He ranks second nationally with 301 victories.
It is the 10th consecutive year in which Lake has won at least 300 races. During that period he has visited the winners’ circle 4,123 times, including 931 in Maryland. He has finished first or second nationally each year, beginning in 2000.
