2017 SEASON: Had fourth-most wins at Maryland tracks with 94, to go along with $2,895,051 in purse earnings … fifth in wins (40) and purses earned ($1,076,262) at Laurel’s winter-spring meet … tied for second during Preakness Meet at Pimlico with six wins, one off the lead … added 18 wins at Laurel’s summer stand and was fifth with 30 wins and $1.014 million in purses at year-ending fall meet … won Alma North and Twixt Stakes with Shimmering Aspen … also won Selima aboard Wise Gal and Punch Line with Lawyer Dave.
 
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: Returned to riding with a dozen mounts at the Maryland State Fair in Timonium in August 2016 following a 10-year absence, winning 10 of 219 starts to close the year … First win of comeback came aboard Bo Vuk on Oct. 2 at Laurel Park … Rode from 1990 to 2000 before returning to work the oil fields in his native Oklahoma … Ended his first retirement in 2004, winning Pimlico spring meet titles in 2004 and 2005 … Won his 1,000th career race June 6, 2004 aboard Are You There at Pimlico … Retired for a second time in December 2006 following an automobile accident where he suffered fractured vertebrae in his neck and several broken ribs, both to recover and to raise sons Garrett and Weston in his home state.
