Canter For The Cause Returns To Pimlico Sunday, May 3

Bring Your Favorite Horse to Pimlico

Walk, Trot or Canter Across Historic Track

Part of Ultimate Girls Day Out on Black-Eyed Susan Day

BALTIMORE, MD., 03/02/15 --- Pimlico Race Course will once again host the popular Canter For The Cause Sunday, May 3, allowing the public to walk, trot or canter their favorite horse on the same track that hosted Seabiscuit and Secretariat.

This extraordinary opportunity will be available between 6-11 a.m.

Canter For the Cause is just one of several events supporting Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance and Susan G. Komen Maryland leading up to Black-Eyed Susan Day's "Ultimate Girls Day Out," celebrating the spirit and strength of women, Friday, May 15.

Canter For The Cause will let horse owners walk, trot or canter their horse or pony on Pimlico's historic main track; a track that has played host to California Chrome, Seabiscuit, Secretariat, War Admiral, Smarty Jones, Rachel Alexandra, Seattle Slew, Gallorette, Affirmed and countless others. Fans can also walk their horse through the starting gate, ride at their own pace, and pose for photo opportunities in the winner's circle. Each group will be led by a Pimlico outrider.

"This is a great opportunity for our region's horse owners and horse lovers to celebrate the Preakness and Black-Eyed Susan Day while giving back to Thoroughbred aftercare and Susan G. Komen Maryland," said Sal Sinatra, General Manager of the Maryland Jockey Club. "It's also a great opportunity for all of us at the Maryland Jockey Club to meet so many people who share our love and passion for the horse."

There is a $50 entry fee for horses and a $25 entry fee for ponies. Proof of a negative Coggins test is required for all horses. Riders must wear approved helmets and sign a waiver. Riders 18 and under must be accompanied by an adult. No colts, stallions or ridglings will be allowed.

Entries close and will not be accepted after Monday, April 27.
