LAUREL, MD – Runnymede Racing’s Scatrattleandroll swept to the lead midway on the turn, straightened for home in front and sprinted clear of her rivals for a 7 ¼-length victory in Friday’s featured seventh race at Laurel Park.

Ridden by Jevian Toledo for trainer Kelly Rubley, Scatrattleandroll ($6), making her third start since being purchased privately, ran one mile in 1:36.15 over a fast main track in the $42,000 entry-level allowance for fillies and mares 3 and up.

Scatrattleandroll, a 3-year-old bay daughter of Scat Daddy, earned the first win for her new connections after finishing third in a seven-furlong optional claimer April 14 at Laurel and a one mile, 70-yard allowance against older horses May 22 at Delaware Park.

“She’s a lovely filly,” Rubley said. “I was very pleased when they mentioned they were looking to purchase her, so it worked out.”

Toledo settled Scatrattleandroll in third as Malibu Sunrise and Hell of Afire battled through a quarter-mile in 23.25 seconds and a half in 46.37. Scatrattleandroll, favored at 2-1 in her 10th start, ranged up on the leaders on the outside to take over the top spot and powered down the center of the track for her second career win. Ortinola came on to be second, with Hell of Afire third.

“We really liked this filly when she came in and she just continues to grow and develop,” Rubley said. “She’s building more muscle all the time, so we’re very happy with how she’s progressing.”

Joseph Besecker’s Shippy ($2.80) was an impressive 10 ¾-length winner of Friday’s opener, a $40,000 maiden special weight for 2-year-olds, hitting the wire in 56.83 seconds for five furlongs under Edwin Gonzalez. In her career debut for trainer Tim Kreiser, the daughter of 2008 champion juvenile and two-time Grade 1 winner Midshipman sailed past dueling front-runners Courtesy Shuffle and Evan’s Chile and held a five-length lead turning for home before widening her advantage late.

“We knew she was definitely special,” Penn National-based Kreiser said. “We kind of figured she’d run well. I didn’t see anybody in here that scared me. I mean, she was working probably as fast as I’ve ever had a horse work.”

In Friday’s other $40,000 maiden special weight, for fillies and mares 3 and up going 5 ½ furlongs, even-money favorite End Result ($4.20) took the lead out of the gate, opened up by three lengths at the top of the stretch and held off a frantic late charge from Bossy Bride to win by a nose in her sophomore debut. Trained by Hamilton Smith for Mens Grille Racing, the Real Solution filly ran three times at 2, beaten less than a length in her final two starts, the last coming Dec. 31.

“We gave her some time off. She had some little minor problems that we had to take care of, which we did,” Smith said. “We’re looking forward to running her on the grass; that’s what she’s bred for. Hopefully we can get to stretch her out a little bit and run her long on the turf. That’s our plan, anyway.”
