Juarez Rides Six Winners Monday at Laurel

Three Trained by Hugh McMahon

LAUREL, MD – Jockey Nik Juarez wishes every day could be Monday.

The Maryland native found himself in the winner’s circle six times during Monday’s nine-race program, capping his incredible afternoon off with a victory aboard Escrow Kid ($3.40) in the ninth race.

Juarez started his day off by winning three consecutive races starting with appropriately named Start Swinging ($8.80) in the second race. He followed that with a victory in the third race with Closure ($10) and the fourth with Bioterp ($4.20). Juarez then won the sixth race with Sneaky Fair ($11.60), the seventh with Bustin to Win ($11.20) and ended it all with Escrow Kid in the ninth.

Three of Juarez’s winners – Closure, Bustin to Win and Escrow Kid – were trained by Hugh McMahon.

It’s been a good several months for Juarez, a native of Westminster, Md. He won his first graded-stakes aboard Valid in the summer in the Iselin (G3) and rode Crossed Sabres Farm’s gelding to a fifth-place finish in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1). It was Juarez’s first trip to the Breeders’ Cup.
