LAUREL, MD – Laurel Park is hosting a special nine-race program on Monday, Jan. 16.

First race post time is 12:30 p.m.

Monday’s feature comes in Race 8, a $47,000 third-level optional claiming allowance for 4-year-olds and up. The seven-furlong sprint attracted a field of eight including multiple stakes winner Never Gone South; Afleet Willy, coming off back-to-back wins 22 days apart at Laurel last month; Grade 3-placed Cocked and Loaded; and stakes-placed Final Prospect and Any Court Inastorm.

No one had all six winners in the 20-cent Rainbow 6, growing the carryover jackpot to $2,192.83 for the multi-race sequence that begins Monday in Race 4. Tickets with five of six winners Sunday returned $1,060.88.

There will also be a carryover of $6,398.19 in the 50-cent Late Pick 5 that starts with Race 5, and a carryover of $985.69 for Monday’s opener.

Following Monday’s program, live racing returns to Laurel on Saturday, Jan. 21 with four $75,000 stakes: the Native Dancer for 4-year-olds and up and Nellie Morse for females 4 and up at about 1 1/16 miles, and the Frank Whiteley Jr. for 3-year-olds and Marshua for 3-year-old fillies at six furlongs.
