$25,000 Pick 5 Carryover, Russell Seeks 1,000th Win

LAUREL, MD., 02/26/15 ---Live racing returns to Laurel Park this weekend with 10-race programs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Due to frigid temperatures and severe weather, Laurel cancelled its Friday and Sunday programs last weekend and ran only two races on Saturday before cancelling the remainder of the card.

Laurel will kick off its weekend Friday with a carryover in the Pick 5 of $25,630.

The return of live racing this weekend will also include jockey Sheldon Russell's attempt to win his 1,000th career race. The Louisiana native and Maryland’s former leading rider is just two wins away from his career milestone at 998.
