Maryland Jockey Club Unveils 2012 Preakness Logo

BALTIMORE, 12-14-11---The Maryland Jockey Club today unveiled the 2012 Preakness logo for the 137th running of the $1,000,000 Preakness Stakes® (G1), the middle jewel of the Triple Crown, which is set for Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Pimlico Race Course.

For the 13th consecutive year, the Leffler Agency of Baltimore and Tampa designed the official Preakness logo. Five times their Preakness designs have won major national awards for the agency.

The 2012 Preakness logo depicts the horse and jockey as repeating stylized graphics with curved elements that convey movement. The type treatment is simple and modern. Overall, the logo uses the traditional Maryland colors of red, gold, and black.

“The challenge of making a national logo like the Preakness logo every year is the challenge of uniqueness,” said Bob Leffler, agency president/owner. The Leffler Agency utilizes our BrandNU(TM) design concept every year so that none of the logos look alike"
