Racing Resumes Friday, March 11 at Laurel Park

LAUREL, MD - Live racing returns to Laurel Park's newly-refurbished facility Friday with a big weekend of stakes races and events.
            
First race post is 1:10 p.m. Friday through Sunday. The simulcast facility opens at 11 a.m.
            
Saturday's program will feature the $75,000 Private Term and $75,000 Caesar's Wish. The Private Terms will be the last prep race for the April 9 $100,000 Federico Tesio, a "Win & You're In" race for the May 21 Preakness Stakes (G1), while the Caesar's Wish will be the last prep for the April 9 $100,000 Weber City Miss, a "Win &You're In" race for the May 20 Black-Eyed Susan.
            
Laurel will also host the Champions Handicapping Tournament Saturday as well as the St. Paddy's Day Pig Roast.
            
Laurel's spring schedule runs through Mother's Day, May 8. Racing resumes at the Preakness Meet at Pimlico Thursday, May 12. Along with racing three days a week, Laurel will host a number of events including the Decanter Wine Festival and Racing 101 Day at the Races.
 
Saturday, March 12: 
            
Champions Handicapping Tournament: Earn a berth to the National Handicapping Championship (NHC), Breeders' Cup Betting Challenge (BCBC) or The Big One in the Maryland Jockey Club's Champions Tournament. There's more than $33,000 in prizes but entries are limited to the first 300. There is a $100 non-refundable fee per entry and entrants will be required to stake a $200 account bankroll to make win, place and show wagers on designated tracks - Laurel, Gulfstream Park, Tampa Bay Downs, Santa Anita and Aqueduct. St. Paddy's Day Celebration: Enjoy Laurel's St. Paddy's Day Pig Roast, featuring Irish fare, live music and a drawings for a trip for two to Ireland or one of five $100 betting vouchers. The roast takes place from 1-5 p.m. with tickets $25 in advance and $30 at the door.
            
Racing: The $75,000 Private Terms and $75,000 Caesar's Wish: Some of the top 3-year-olds take center stage in the Private Terms for colts and the Caesar's Wish for fillies. The Private Terms will serve as a prep for the April 9 Federico Tesio, a "Win & You’re In" race for the Preakness Stakes (G1) at Pimlico May 21, and the April 9 Weber City Miss, a "Win & You're In" race for the Black-Eyed Susan (G2) at Pimlico May 20.

Decanter Wine Festival: Sample a variety of Maryland wine, enjoy local food and artisans, and listen to live music and watch Thoroughbred action. Racing 101 Day at the Races: Experience a full day at the racetrack from watching morning workouts, visiting the barns of leading trainers, taking a trip to the jockey's room, paddock and winner's circle.
