LAUREL, MD – An action-packed day of world-class racing and a multitude of activities on and off-track is in store when Laurel Park hosts the 32nd annual Jim McKay Maryland Million Saturday, Oct. 21.
 
The richest of an 11-race program that features seven stakes and four starter stakes is the $150,000 Classic, where Admirals War Cry will attempt to make history by winning the 1 1/8-mile event for 3-year-olds and up at 1 1/8 miles for a third consecutive year.
 
A total of 213 pre-entries were taken for ‘Maryland’s Day at the Races,’ including six defending champions and 10 previous Maryland Million winners. There will be a special first-race post time of 12:15 p.m.
 
Final entries for all 11 Maryland Million races are due Wednesday, Oct. 18 and a formal post-position draw will be held starting at 4:30 p.m. inside Tips, Laurel’s casual trackside restaurant located on the first floor clubhouse.

A livestream of the draw offering analysis from Stan Salter, Tim Tullock, Dave Rodman and Acacia Courtney will be available at www.Facebook.com/LaurelPark, www.twitter.com/LaurelPark and www.LaurelPark.com. By clicking the post on Laurel’s Facebook page, fans will be randomly chosen to win an Apple i-Pad Mini.
 
The Maryland Club in Baltimore will again play host to the annual Maryland Million Gala on Friday, Oct. 20 beginning at 6:30 p.m. and featuring live and silent auctions as well as individual and stallion raffle tickets. Admission to the Gala is $100 and tickets and information can be found and www.marylandmillion.com.
 
A $20 ticket includes three draft beers, free souvenir program and a Maryland Million cap at the Jailbreak Beer Garden, sponsored by the Jailbreak Brewing Co. ‘Bettin’ for Beer Money’, featuring handicapping tips from Laurel Park race analyst Ty Ehlis, will also be available starting at 10:45 a.m.
 
A Maryland Million hat contest will take place on the second-floor clubhouse, with registration starting at 2 p.m. and judging at 2:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded in three categories – best Maryland-themed hat, best ladies’ hat and best-dressed couple.
 
Free activities or kids are available throughout Maryland Million Day in the Kids Korral located on the track apron, with on-track demonstrations, entertainers, fox hounds, pony races and the Suttler Post Farm Clydesdales being held between races.
 
General admission and parking are free on Maryland Million Day. A commemorative hat will be given away to the first 4,000 program purchasers.
