Two Stakes, Three Carryovers Highlight Laurel Saturday

LAUREL, MD – In addition to a pair of competitive $100,000 stakes, bettors will be greeted with a trio of carryovers for Saturday’s nine-race program at Laurel Park.
 
The 20-cent Rainbow 6 went unsolved on Friday, growing the jackpot carryover to $7,718.75. Tickets with four of six winners were worth $130.40.
 
Covering Races 4-9, Saturday’s Rainbow 6 includes the $100,000 Fire Plug for 4-year-olds and up in Race 7 and the $100,000 What a Summer for fillies and mares 4 and older in Race 8, both at six furlongs.
 
There will be a carryover of $5,571.55 in the 50-cent Late Pick 5, which offers an industry-low 12 percent takeout and spans Races 5-9 Saturday. Tickets with four of five winners Friday were worth $371.40.
 
The $1 Super Hi-5 will have a carryover of $2,924.39 for Saturday’s opener. First race post time is 12:30 p.m.
 
Notes: Jockey Ricardo Chiappe rode back-to-back long shots to victory Friday, both returning $30.80 – Beautiful Maiden in the fifth race and Trafficplan in the sixth. Jockey Horacio Karamanos will remain off his mounts until next week with body soreness stemming from a spill in Sunday’s eighth race.
