Winter Carnival Comes To Laurel Park February 14-16

            LAUREL, MD-02/08/15---The Winter Carnival returns to Laurel Park this weekend with ice sculptures, $2,500 in prizes hidden inside an ice wall, drawings for a 48" flat screen television and other gifts, an ice bar with drink specials, and six stakes races including the $300,000 Barbara Fritchie Handicap (G2) and $250,000 General George Handicap (G3).

            Gates open at 11 a.m. First race post is 12:30 p.m.

            The popular and family friendly Winter Carnival runs Saturday through Monday and kicks off Saturday, February 14 with a chance for fans to win prizes totaling $2,500 at an ice wall and enjoy ice sculptures of last year's Preakness (G1) winner California Chrome and popular local heroes Ben's Cat and Eighttofasttocatch.

            There will be an ice carving demonstration on the grandstand apron from 1-3:30 p.m. Fans will also be able to win $2,500 worth of prizes hidden inside the ice wall between 1-4:30 p.m.

            Along with the ice sculptures, located at the grandstand and clubhouse entrance and Terrace Dining Room, Laurel will feature an ice bar on the first floor with drink specials. 

            Also on Saturday, a Laurel Park polo shirt will be given out to the first 3,000 customers paying admission along with Maryland licensed owners and trainers. Fans can wear the polo shirt Monday, Feb. 16 for free admission.

            The fun continues Sunday, Feb. 15 with live racing and Sunday brunch in the Terrace Dining Room. On Monday, Feb. 16, there will be drawings for a 48" flat screen television, a Blue Ray/DVD player, a pair of tickets to the St. Patty's Day Pig Roast and one of two $100 Weis Gift Cards.
