2011 SEASON: tied for 21st with 17 winners…conditioned the first 2-year-old winner of the year for the third consecutive year when Bluegrass Atatude won at Pimlico on April 15…she later won the Maryland Million Lassie…Silver Partner captured the Kattegat’s Pride Starter Allowance on Preakness weekend.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: finished eighth in the local standings in 2010 with 30 victories from just 98 starters… Twelve Pack Shelly set a 4 ½ furlong track record in her debut on April 8 and ran in the Grade III Kentucky Juvenile against the boys on Kentucky Derby weekend, following the same path as Gator Prowl a year earlier…Twelve Pack Shelly finished the year with four wins in seven starts with stakes victories at Monmouth Park and Charles Town…Gator Prowl won Marshua Stakes…was an impressive 11-of-33 during the 2009 Laurel winter stand…won 2009 Twixt Stakes with Five Diamonds…first stint as a conditioner happened during the late 1980’s to mid-1990’s….first winner was Special Pitch in 1986, who won four races during his 4-year-old campaign…top 20 conditioner in the state from 1991-93, including a fifth place finish in the Pimlico fall standings in ‘93…from 1995-2004 was the agent for top jockey Rick Wilson…then returned to training in June 2008.
PERSONAL: his father, John Sr. trained and co-owned sprinting sensation Xtra Heat who earned the Eclipse Award for top three-year old filly in 2001…brother Tim is also a Laurel Park-based conditioner.
