Three on the Turf, Industry-Low 12-Percent Takeout

LAUREL, MD – Three races from Gulfstream Park and two from Golden Gate Fields, including three turf races, will highlight Friday’s Stronach 5.

The Stronach 5, with an industry-low 12-percent takeout, will begin with three consecutive races from Gulfstream before concluding with two from Golden Gate.

LAUREL, MD -  “1/ST RACING and the Maryland Jockey Club, as part of regular track maintenance protocols, have identified that the main track at Laurel Park has not responded sufficiently to the necessary repairs following wintertime cushion changes.

“While we work to assess cushion replacement options in consultation with Dr. Mick Peterson from the Racing Surfaces Testing Laboratory, the track will be available for gallopers only, tomorrow morning, Thursday, April 15. No workouts will be permitted until further notice.

LAUREL, MD – The $100,000 Primonetta April 24 at Laurel Park, as well as the upcoming Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred Championship Series that makes its season debut in mid-May at Pimlico Race Course, are among the races being considered for Runhappy Barbara Fritchie (G3) winner Hibiscus Punch.

Races from Gulfstream Park, Santa Anita Park and Golden Gate Fields

LAUREL, MD – The Stronach 5 returns Friday with races from Gulfstream Park, Santa Anita Park and Golden Gate Fields along with an industry-low 12-percent takeout.

Friday’s sequence includes three turf races – two maiden turf races from Gulfstream and Golden Gate and a competitive 10-horse $32,000 claiming event from Santa Anita.
