LAUREL, MD., 06/16/15 - The Maryland Jockey Club announced today it will conduct a 24-day summer meet at Laurel Park that will feature Friday twilight racing, weekend activities for the entire family, and a new Super High 5 wager with low takeout.

The summer dates - July 3 through August 27 - have been approved by the Maryland Racing Commission and supported by the Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association.

Laurel's first race post time will be 1:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday but will offer a special 3:40 p.m. first race post every Friday for its twilight program.

Each Friday twilight program will include a live band and a themed buffet.

Each Sunday, Laurel will offer different family activities including pony rides, a petting zoo, face painters, carnival rides and a family buffet featuring ice cream, cotton candy, and treats for all the kids.

"We're delighted to have a summer racing program back at Laurel beginning in July," said Maryland Jockey Club President and General Manager Sal Sinatra. "We have some fun activities planned for our Friday twilight programs for the entire family and our horsemen are excited about putting out quality programs.

"The Super High 5 continues our desire to offer our fans new wagers with low takeouts that can produce life-changing winning payoffs."
