LAUREL, MD – Fans will be able to watch and wager on live racing as well as sample from more than 100 wines at the 7th annual Decanter Wine & Racing Festival presented by the Maryland Wineries Association, Saturday April 8 at Laurel Park.
 
The event, scheduled to run from noon to 6 p.m., includes live music, local food and craft vendors and a best-dressed competition. One male and female winner will receive two tickets to a future Maryland wine event and a pair of Flute Club tickets for Black-Eyed Susan Day, May 20, at historic Pimlico Race Course.
 
More than 23 wineries from across Maryland will be represented at the event. Musical artists Darcy Dawn & Co. are scheduled to perform from noon to 3 p.m. followed by Ken Wenzel and Cross Kentucky from 3-6 p.m.
 
General admission is $30 and a Decanter Pass is $50 purchased in advance, and $35 and $55, respectively, on event day. Tickets for designated drivers and youths are $20, with kids 10 and under admitted free.

Also part of the April 8 program is the Triple Crown Prep Handicapping Challenge handicapping tournament, featuring wagering on the final chance for horses around the country to earn qualifying points for the Kentucky Derby (G1).
 
There is a $10 cost to enter the tournament, where players will be required to place fictional $2 win-place wagers on the final five races at Laurel as well as the Wood Memorial (G2) at Aqueduct Racetrack in New York, Blue Grass (G2) at Keeneland and Santa Anita Derby (G1) at Santa Anita Park.
 
Selection cards will be available at Guest Services and must be submitted prior to the start of Laurel’s 50-cent Late Pick 5. Players must be a Premier Player Rewards Member to participate.
