Miss Star Potential Back to Winning Ways in Sunday Feature

Special Veterans Day Holiday Program Monday, Nov. 11
Military Family Appreciation Day Saturday, Nov. 16

LAUREL, MD – Euro Stable’s Miss Star Potential, making just her second start since winning the Maryland Million Lassie last October, led all the way around to capture Sunday’s featured seventh race at Laurel Park.

Miss Star Potential ($20.20) ran 5 ½ furlongs in 1:03.77 over a fast main track to take the open $42,000 entry-level allowance for fillies and mares 3 and up by four lengths and give trainer Claudio Gonzalez and jockey Kevin Gomez their second wins on the card.

A 3-year-old daughter of Tritap, Miss Star Potential broke her maiden at first asking last September at Timonium and was beaten a nose in her first try against winners before a front-running 1 ½-length score in the Lassie in her stakes debut. Unraced for 7 ½ months, she finished sixth in her comeback June 8 at Laurel before going to the sidelines again.

“She tries all the time. She’s a nice filly,” Gonzalez said. “She had a little problem breathing and we sent her to have surgery. She had it three different times. We wanted to do all we can for her because we know she can run, so credit to the owner because not many owners would do that. He wants the best for the filly. We did the right thing for her and she ran very well.”

Live racing returns to Laurel with a special nine-race Veterans Day holiday program Monday, Nov. 11. First race post time is 12:25 p.m.
