MJC Celebrates Opening of Newest OTB Site in Frederick

Long Shot’s Becomes Eighth Location in MJC’s OTB Network

FREDERICK, MD – The Maryland Jockey Club unveiled its eighth off-track betting facility Monday with the opening of its newest location at Long Shot’s sports bar in the Clarion Inn Frederick Event Center.

Situated along I-270 at 5400 Holiday Drive in Frederick, the event center is located across the road from the Francis Scott Key Mall and in close proximity to the Monocacy National Battlefield, site of an 1864 Civil War battle, and Adventure Park USA theme park.

Frederick was recently named the fastest growing city in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia), according to estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The opening of Long Shot’s comes 10 months after the Maryland Jockey Club expanded its network of off-track betting sites at the MGM National Harbor, a luxury resort, retail, dining and entertainment venue just minutes from Washington, D.C. on the banks of the Potomac River in Oxon Hill, Md.

Long Shot’s joins other previous off-track locations in Maryland at the Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore, Greenmount Station in Hampstead, Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, GBoone’s Events Center in Boonsboro and Hollywood Casino in Perryville, as well as the Riverboat Restaurant in Colonial Beach, Va.

Frederick, home to the National Museum of Civil War Medicine, is 17 miles from Boonsboro, 27 miles from Hagerstown, Md. and 50 miles from Baltimore.

The Maryland Jockey Club is currently conducting live Thoroughbred racing Thursdays through Sundays at Laurel Park in Laurel, Md. Simulcasting is also available at Laurel, as well as Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, home of the Preakness Stakes (G1), and Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, Md.
