Nominations Close Thursday, Aug. 31 for First of Laurel’s 44 Fall Stakes

LAUREL, MD – Nominations for the $75,000 Challedon and $75,000 Shine Again, the first two of 44 stakes worth $4.42 million being offered during Laurel Park’s year-ending fall meet, close Thursday, Aug. 31.
 
Laurel’s 60-day fall meet opens Friday, Sept. 8 and runs through Sunday, Dec. 31.
 
The Challedon for 3-year-olds and up and the Shine Again for fillies and mares 3 and older are for non-winners of a sweepstakes and contested at seven furlongs on Laurel’s newly refurbished main track.
 
Nominations close Thursday, Sept. 7 for the first of six Super Saturday programs on the fall calendar, featuring seven stakes worth $900,000 in purses Sept. 16 highlighted by the $250,000 Frank J. De Francis Memorial Dash (G3) for 3-year-olds and up at six furlongs.
 
Joining the De Francis on the Sept. 16 program are six stakes on Laurel’s world-class turf course led by the $150,000 All Along, formerly the Lady Baltimore, for fillies and mares 3 and up at 1 1/16 miles. Also scheduled are the $100,000 Laurel Futurity and $100,00 Selima for 2-year-olds and $100,000 Laurel Dash and $100,000 Sensible Lady Turf Dash for 3-year-olds and up, all at six furlongs, and the $100,000 Laurel Turf Cup for 3-year-olds and up at 1 ½ miles.
