LAUREL, MD – The Maryland Jockey Club announced today it will play host to nine $100,000 stakes races on Labor Day Weekend, including the Federico Tesio, a ‘Win and In’ for the Preakness Stakes (G1), the Weber City, a ‘Win and In’ for the Black-Eyed Susan (G2), and three stakes on the turf.

LAUREL, MD – Laurel Park’s first 2-year-old race of 2020 will highlight Friday’s program. The 5-furlong event drew a field of 10 colts and geldings and will be run as the sixth race. The purse is $40,000.

LAUREL, MD – Jockey Feargal Lynch is expected to miss the remainder of the summer meet after follow-up tests revealed fractures in his neck and back from a July 23 spill at Laurel Park.
 
Lynch, 42, ranked among the leading riders at the summer stand with 12 wins and $392,398 in purse earnings. The meet is scheduled to run Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through Aug. 22.

LAUREL, MD – The Stronach 5 continued to show a good return on investment Friday when it returned $5,565.30 with no winner in the sequence returning more than $10.
 
Friday’s Stronach 5 featured races from Laurel Park and Gulfstream Park and a $100,000 guaranteed pool. There were 17 winning tickets. All three races from Laurel scheduled on the turf were moved to the main track due to rain.
