Double Carryovers for Return of Live Racing Friday

Weekly Stronach 5 Wager Kicks Off with Laurel Finale
Pegasus Simulcast, Giveaways Saturday, Jan. 25

LAUREL, MD – Live racing returns to Laurel Park Friday, Jan. 24 with an eight-race program featuring carryovers in the 50-cent Late Pick 5 and 20-cent Rainbow 6.

First-race post time is 12:25 p.m.

The Late Pick 5, offering an industry low 12 percent takeout, begins in Race 4 with a carryover of $6,432.70 from Laurel’s special Martin Luther King Jr. holiday program Monday. The Rainbow 6 wager starts in Race 3 with a jackpot carryover of $1,280 begins.

Both sequences include the Friday feature, an open $42,000 allowance for fillies and mares 4 and older that attracted a field of seven led by 9-5 program favorite Three Hawk, trained by Lacey Gaudet for Five Hellions Farm.

Friday’s Race 8 finale, a maiden claimer for 4-year-olds and up going 6 ½ furlongs on the main track, is the opening leg in the weekly national Stronach 5 wager that once again will carry a $100,000 pool guarantee and links races from Laurel, Gulfstream Park, Santa Anita Park and Golden Gate Fields.

The Stronach 5 continues with Santa Anita’s opener as Leg B, followed by Race 8 at Gulfstream (Leg C) and Race 3 at Golden Gate (Leg D), before concluding with Gulfstream’s Race 10 (Leg E).

The minimum wager on the multi-race, multi-track Stronach 5 is $1. If there are no tickets with five winners, the entire pool will be carried over to the next Friday.

If a change in racing surface is made after the wagering closes, each selection on any ticket will be considered a winning selection. If a betting interest is scratched, that selection will be substituted with the favorite in the win pool when wagering closes.

The Maryland Jockey Club serves as host of the Stronach 5.

On Saturday, Jan. 25, Laurel Park will simulcast the Pegasus World Cup Championship Invitational Series presented by Runhappy program from Gulfstream featuring the $3 million Pegasus World Cup (G1), which has a post time of 5:36 p.m., and $1 million Pegasus World Cup Turf (G1), with a post time of 4:51 p.m.

Fans who purchase a program can be entered in drawings for Pegasus merchandise.
