Double Carryovers for Saturday’s Winter Carnival Program

Five Stakes, Two Graded, Worth $800,000 on Nine-Race Card
Family Activities, Ice Carving, Stakes Buffet and Hat Giveaway

LAUREL, MD – There will be carryovers in both the 20-cent Rainbow 6 and $1 Super Hi-5 wagers to help heat up a stakes-filled Winter Carnival program Saturday at Laurel Park highlighted by the $250,000 Runhappy Barbara Fritchie (G3) and $250,000 General George (G3) for older sprinters.

First race post time is 12:25 p.m.

The Rainbow 6 went unsolved Friday, growing the jackpot carryover to $17,140.55 for Saturday’s nine-race card which is highlighted by five stakes worth $800,000 in purses. Multiple tickets with all six winners Friday were each worth $432.34.

Spanning Races 4-9, the Rainbow 6 sequence is kicked off by the $100,000 John B. Campbell at about 1 1/16 miles and followed by the $100,000 Wide Country for 3-year-old fillies in Race 5, $100,000 Miracle Wood for 3-year-olds in Race 6, Barbara Fritchie in Race 7 and General George in Race 8 before wrapping up with an open entry-level allowance for older horses.

The Rainbow 6 jackpot is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 60 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 40 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

A Super Hi-5 carryover of $3,055.78 will be available starting in Saturday’s second race.

In addition to live racing, Saturday’s program will include ice sculptures, ice carving demonstrations, ice wall with $2,500 in prizes, kids’ winter crafts and face painting, hot chocolate and coffee bar, special stakes buffet and a Maryland Jockey Club knit hat giveaway with program purchase, while supplies last.
