Laurel Park Cancels Wednesday's Card

LAUREL, MD., 01-22-14---Due to extreme weather conditions in the Baltimore and Washington D.C. markets, live racing at Laurel Park has been cancelled for Wednesday, January 22. Laurel and its sister track, Pimlico Race Course, will be open for simulcasting.

“It is better to wait and clear the track after it stopped snowing,” Maryland Jockey Club Director of Racing Georganne Hale said. “It is brutally cold out there which could have been an issue with the jocks. It is not bearable out there today for horse or rider but we should be good to go tomorrow when the temperatures rise a bit.”

Live racing is scheduled to resume Thursday, January 23 with a 12:35 p.m. EST post time.
