Racing and training had been suspended at Laurel since Thursday, Oct. 24 due to a broken water pipe located on the track apron along the outer rail of the main track, which has now been repaired.

Thursday’s feature comes in Race 5, an open $55,000 allowance for 3-year-olds and up led by narrow 2-1 program favorite Fort Fortitude, trained and co-owned by Jamie Ness. The multiple stakes-placed gelding has won three straight races, two since being claimed for $40,000 Sept. 5.

Also in the field are multiple stakes winners Sonny Inspired and Clubman, the latter beaten as the favorite in the Maryland Million Classic Oct. 19; 2018 Challedon winner Old Time Revival; American Power, fourth in the Sept. 28 Vosburgh (G1) last out to snap a three-race win streak; and three-time graded-stakes placed Vorticity, winner of the 2015 Marylander Stakes at Laurel racing for the first time since August 2018.

Race 6 on Thursday is a $40,000 maiden special weight for 2-year-olds going one mile on the main track that drew a field of 11 including homebreds by Tale of the Cat, Constitution, To Honor and Serve, Super Saver, Uncle Mo, Pioneerof the Nile and Bernardini.

Thursday’s Race 7 is a $45,000 second-level optional claiming allowance for 3-year-olds and up scheduled for one mile on the Bowl Game turf course which attracted an overflow field of 16 led by 10-time winner King of Spades and 2017 Arlington Classic (G3) winner Cowboy Culture.
