Lots of Winner in Friday's Stronach 5

Returns $256 with Three of the Five Winners Returning $3.20 or Less           
 
LAUREL, MD – The Stronach 5, which featured four turf races including two restricted turf stakes, resulted in 411 winning tickets Friday afternoon with each ticket worth $256.10 despite three of the five winners returning $3.20 or less.
 
The Stronach 5 featured races from Gulfstream Park West, Laurel Park, Santa Anita Park and Golden Gate Fields along with an industry-low 12-percent takeout and $100,000 guaranteed pool.
 
Friday’s Stronach 5 began with Gulfstream West’s eighth race, won by Karen’s Cove ($10.40), before moving to Laurel Park for two restricted races over the turf – the $75,000 Bert Allen and the $75,000 Punch Line.
 
In the Bert Allen, Largent, a 1-2 favorite ridden by Trevor McCarthy, owned by Twin Creek Racing Stables LLC and Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners and trained by Todd Pletcher, held off longshot Tolaga Bay, while Dare to Dream Stable LLC’s Embolden, a 3-5 favorite, won the Punch Line.
 
The Stronach 5 headed west for legs 4 and 5. Santa Anita’s fourth race was won by After Midnight ($10.80) while the third race at Golden Gate was won by the 1-2 favorite Dyn O Mite ($3). Que Sera Sir Ralph was a late scratch in the final leg.

The minimum wager on the multi-race, multi-track Stronach 5 is $1. If there are no tickets with five winners, the entire pool will be carried over to the next Friday.
 
If a change in racing surface is made after the wagering closes, each selection on any ticket will be considered a winning selection. If a betting interest is scratched, that selection will be substituted with the favorite in the win pool when wagering closes.
