LAUREL, MD – Live racing will return to Laurel Park Friday, March 20 with a carryover jackpot of $18,132.97 in the 20-cent Rainbow 6 as well as the opening and closing legs of the weekly national Stronach 5 wager.

The Rainbow 6 had no single ticket with all six winners during Laurel’s last live program Sunday, March 15. Friday’s sequence spans Races 5-10 and includes the day’s feature, a $42,000 entry-level allowance for 4-year-olds and up in Race 8 led by 8-5 program favorite Star Sign.

Laurel Park will be prominent in the Stronach 5, opening the multi-race, multi-track wager with its Race 9, a claiming event for older horses that attracted a field of 10. Following Race 4 from Santa Anita, Race 10 from Gulfstream Park and Race 4 from Golden Gate Fields, the Stronach 5 wraps up with Laurel’s Race 10, a maiden claimer for 3-year-olds that also has 10 entered.

Offering a guaranteed pool of $100,000 and an industry-low 12 percent takeout, the Stronach 5 has a minimum wager of $1. If there are no tickets with five winners, the entire pool will be carried over to the next Friday.

If a change in racing surface is made after the wagering closes, each selection on any ticket will be considered a winning selection. If a betting interest is scratched, that selection will be substituted with the favorite in the win pool when wagering closes.

The Maryland Jockey Club serves as host of the Stronach 5.
