Wagering Up On Live Racing For 2013 Season

LAUREL, MD. 01-03-14---The Maryland Jockey Club concluded its 2013 racing season earlier this week, posting average wagering figures on the live product at Laurel Park and Pimlico Race Course which were 4.1% higher than 2012. The average daily handle grew from $1.975 million to $2.057 million per day.

The year featured 145 live racing dates and 207 simulcast days.

“The boost in purses because of the VLT’s has meant improved quality in the product and has encouraged simulcast players to watch and wager,” Maryland Jockey Club president Tom Chuckas said.
