Winter Weather Cancels Monday Holiday Program at Laurel

Simulcasting Open; Live Racing Returns Thursday, Jan. 24
 
LAUREL, MD – The Maryland Jockey Club canceled Monday’s special nine-race Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday program at Laurel Park due to severe winter weather conditions.
 
Monday’s forecast called for sun with a high of 20 degrees and winds at 20 to 30 mph, gusting up to 40 mph, creating a wind chill factor well into sub-zero temperatures. A wind chill advisory was put into effect until 11 a.m.
 
Laurel and its OTB network will remain open for simulcasting.
 
There will be carryovers of $3,790.82 in the 50-cent Late Pick 5 and $539.21 in the $1 Super Hi-5 when live racing returns to Laurel with an eight-race program Thursday, Jan. 24. Post time is 12:30 p.m.
