LAUREL, MD. 12-12---The 2012 Laurel Park winter meeting will feature 11 stakes races, pending Maryland Racing Commission approval, after the Maryland Jockey Club and Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association agreed to a schedule. The next commission meeting is Tuesday, January 17 at Laurel Park.

Rook Out Six To Eight Weeks With Broken Collarbone

LAUREL, MD. 01-06-12---Apprentice rider Sarah Rook will miss six to eight weeks after breaking her left collarbone Thursday afternoon at Laurel Park. Rook was tossed from Nucky Thompson while galloping out following a third place finish in the finale.

LAUREL, MD. 01-03-12---Rapid Redux, who has not lost a race since November 18, 2010, has been established as the 3-5 morning line favorite by Maryland Jockey Club handicapper Frank Carulli in Wednesday’s 6th race, a $17,000 starter allowance. However, trainer David Wells revealed Tuesday afternoon that his star “grabbed a quarter” in his right front foot a few days ago.
