January & February Racing Dates Modified

LAUREL, MD. 12-17-13---The Maryland Jockey Club and the Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association have modified the January and February live racing dates for the upcoming 2014 winter meeting at Laurel Park.

Instead of racing Thursday through Saturday during the first two months of the year, Wednesday racing will replace Friday on the schedule.

Preakness Stakes Purse Increased To $1.5 Million, Beginning In 2014

BALTIMORE, 12-12-13---The Maryland Jockey Club today announced it has increased the purse for the Preakness Stakes (G1) from $1 million to $1.5 million. The middle jewel of Thoroughbred racing’s Triple Crown is Saturday, May 17 at historic Pimlico Race Course.

BALTIMORE, 12-11-13---The Maryland Jockey Club today unveiled a new logo for Black-Eyed Susan Day and announced a new brand for the event.The 2014 Black-Eyed Susan Day is Friday, May 16 at Pimlico Race Course.

Black-Eyed Susan Day, held annually on the third Friday in May, is the second biggest day on the Maryland racing calendar in terms of purses, attendance and handle, trailing only Preakness Day.

Laurel Park 2014 Winter Stakes Schedule Finalized

LAUREL, MD. 12-06-13---The Maryland Jockey Club (MJC), the Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (MTHA) and the Maryland Horse Breeders Association (MHBA) today announced the stakes schedule for the 2014 Laurel Park winter meet.

The plan still needs approval from the Maryland Racing Commission at its December 17 meeting.
