OFF TRACK BETTING MANAGERS:

The Maryland Jockey Club is seeking four to five candidates to be full-time Off-Track Betting (OTB) Site Managers for the following site locations:

Horse Shoe Casino, 1525 Russell Street, Baltimore, MD; and Timonium OTB, 2200 York Road, Timonium, MD.

As a Manager for Maryland Jockey Club, the OTB Site Manager is responsible for overseeing the operation of a variety of automated activities related to Pari-Mutuel wagering.

POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a visual designer with a with a modern mindset and approach to help steer the creative vision for the Maryland Jockey Club year-round including the historic Preakness Stakes and InfieldFest. This individual should be skilled at all aspects of design (design input/output, promotional materials, website visuals, etc.) with deep expertise in brand identity, along with digital and social media marketing. This role will entail thinking beyond a single channel execution, identify new opportunities and execute on complex design and communication strategies. Be prepared to develop concepts and ideas from the ground up, pitch ideas to leadership, and create compelling, relevant, and meaningful work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with the creative production and output of marketing and sales deliverables
  • Uphold quality design standards and brand integrity
  • Implement and expand our brands’ visual identities cohesively across all sales and marketing communications
  • Work collaboratively with MJC Marketing team and 1/ST Corporate Teams to conceptualize smart, strategic, beautifully designed, out-of-the-box ideas
  • Develop creative ideas and present them in a way that clearly identifies the challenge/problem and the best creative solutions to those challenges, for a variety of different applications (i.e., logos, events advertisements, promotions, digital, print, ontrack signage advertisements, etc.)
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
  • Coordinate the printing, fabrication, and setup of design activations, installations, etc.
  • Work with a roster of print and fabrication vendors to ensure deadlines are followed
  • Ensure deliverables are effective in solving communication challenges, meets marketing goals, and are aligned with brand strategies
  • Execute day-to-day, monthly, and seasonal marketing design requests
  • Curate our brands’ digital and print assets through impeccable file organization
  • Create digital mock-ups and retouched photos for use in collateral
  • Update and prepare final packaging files

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (primarily Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign…)
  • An understanding and previous experience creating integrated content across all marketing channels (from digital, social media, paid media, mobile, retail and print)
  • Ability to prepare and proof packaging files for print
  • Meticulous, detail-oriented, and organized
  • Keen design eye for layout of print & digital executions
  • Solid technical design skills
  • Passionate about design, art, typography, layout, and color theory
  • Ability to multi-task in a deadline driven environment
  • Flexible and quick to respond to changes in business priorities
  • Ability to absorb and apply constructive criticism
  • Proactive and positive with a solutions-oriented mindset toward challenges
  • Experience using WRIKE preferred
  • Lifestyle or product photography skills a plus
  • Video creation a plus (After Effects, Premier Pro, or other)

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design, or related field preferred
  • 3-5+ years of related experience, ideally with 2+ years of art direction or design in a creative agency, brand, or corporate setting experience

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no direct supervisory requirements.
