LAUREL, MD. 11-21-13---Eleven years ago, Ryan Fogelsonger used a dominating fall meet at Laurel Park to earn the Eclipse Award for outstanding apprentice rider. Victor Carrasco is looking to strike lightning in a bottle by rallying for same award.
LAUREL, MD. 11-20-13---With six weeks remaining in the year, apprentice rider Victor Carrasco continues to make a late push for an Eclipse Award.
Wednesday afternoon at Laurel Park, the 21-year-old scored aboard Very Lucky ($6.20-race 6), Olympic Medallist ($175.60-race 7) and Poetry in Notion ($17.60-race 9) to move into sole possession of first place in the fall jockey standings. Carrasco has 32 victories, three more than apprentice Trevor McCarthy.
LAUREL, MD. 11-16-13---Manfred Roos & John Rigattieri’s Jessethemarine rallied from the back of the pack to win James F. Lewis III Stakes at odds of better than 35-1.
LAUREL, MD. 11-16-13---Mark B. Lapidus LLC’s Service For Ten backed off the speed, was sent into overdrive entering the turn and was up in time to capture the $100,000 Dave’s Friend Stakes.
LAUREL, MD. 11-16-13---While the betting favorites broke a little tardily, Michael A. Foster’s Bacopa Breeze was quick from the gate. That start was enough of an advantage that she could hold on and win the $100,000 Smart Halo Stakes for 2-year old fillies.

The 5-year-old gelding broke the 1-1/16 mile turf record on the Dahlia lane, stopping the clock in 1:40.66, .19 faster than De Chera ran three years ago.
